Frequently Asked Questions
Will MICRA NPS (non-porous silica) columns work for my separation?
The NPS technology is designed specifically to increase the speed of
your analysis while at the same time maintaining high column efficiency
and peak resolution.
-
NPS columns separate a wide variety of
analytes. The elution order is almost always the same as on a porous
column; only the run times are usually 3-10 times faster. NPS columns
are ideally suited for hydrophobic analytes.
-
100% aqueous buffers can be routinely used without ion pair reagents
or with ion pairing for the most hydrophilic analytes.
-
The same mobile phase combination can be used as is used for your
current assay; you just use about 1/3 the organic modifier and roughly
a 90% savings in mobile phase.
-
Using the 4.6 mm I.D. NPS columns is comparable to using a 2 mm I.D.
porous column enhancing sensitivity typically by a factor of two or
more.
