Frequently Asked Questions
Will I have high back pressure using NPS 1.5 µm diameter particles?
With a mobile phase of 20% organic and 80% water, back pressure in the range
of 260 bar or 3700 psi is typical for the 4.6 x 33 mm columns at 1 ml/min
flowrates.
We routinely operate at these pressures in our laboratory,
and have required no more than routine maintenance on our HPLC pumps over
years of operation. HPLC pumps are designed to easily handle pressures
of 400 bar or 6000 psi.
If a pressure increase for the column occurs the columns can be reversed and used with no loss in efficiency. |
