DARIEN, IL----Eichrom Industries introduced an improved Rapid One-Step Color Change Test for E. coli O157:H7 detection at the September 12-15 Food Quality Conference and Expo in San Francisco. The test device, which is based on the company’s patented microsphere technology, shows superior specificity for the :H7 E. coli sub species over comparable tests. Persons coming in contact with foodstuffs or water contaminated with the :H7 form of E.coli face severe illness and possible death. Recent major outbreaks in New York and Illinois have been traced to :H7 E. coli contamination. Studies have shown that the incidence of E. coli contamination has been on the rise in recent years.
